"Home for the Summer" is one of my favorite stories I've ever written and I think it's because it's so morbid. On the one hand, it's the story of a college student who's come home for the summer and finds her mother and sister very different since their father's death; on the other, it's the story of well, the aftermath of an unspeakable crime motivated. When your family goes mad, do you go mad along with them or accept that you're now alone in the world?
